To manage their hotel operations, Aspria had selected the protel property management system (PMS). As in any hotel operation, the PMS system has to interact with a number of other IT systems and connect to electronic distribution systems. Furthermore, the PMS is expected to deliver valuable information about things like sources of business, guests' booking behaviour and sales channel performance. Hotel managers need this information to better manage their business. As a newcomer to the hotel business, Aspria faced the challenge of seeing through the complex IT landscape common in the hospitality industry, and the way these systems interact. For example, there are certain restrictions when you use certain electronic channels such as the so-called global distribution systems (GDS), there are legal requirements to be observed, and it is important to extract useful reporting data from the systems.
hit-CONSULT supported Aspria during their launch into hotel management. Aspria's management team got a clear overview of systems and interdependencies. With help from hit-CONSULT, the system was set up with a configuration that accomodates Aspria's business plans, complies with legal requirements, and delivers meaningsful business information. Aspria was astonished by the diversity of the electronic distribution channels such als global distribution channels (GDS), alternative distribution channels (ADS) and booking portals. hit-CONSULT explained the complexity of this issue and made the contact with Yeeld Solutions, an expert in this area who now supports Aspria in the areas of revenue management and CRS distribution services.
